Lynda Spreekt

Guestpost by my tenant Lynda from Lynda’s Great Journey:

I am so happy to be renting from Dutchy this week. It is always nice to come home, even if it is virtually. And the plate of kroketten is terrific! Anyway, Dutchy asked me to say a few words about myself.

I was born in a windmill in a small coastal town of Holland. If you know your Dutch history, then you know that Holland has reclaimed 2/3′s of its land from the sea. So, seeing as most of the country is below sea level, pretty much 2/3′s of the country is small coastal towns. So, after living in the land of Gouda cheese and tulip bulb for two years, my parents and I floated across the ocean on a giant wooden shoe and we arrived in the United States. (The shoe now resides in Zeeland, Michigan.)

Well, after living below sea level, my folks couldn’t get away from the sea. So, they resided in sunny California. First we lived near Disneyland. We use to visit Mickey Mouse a lot. Then my brother was born. We stopped visiting Mickey Mouse as much. Then we moved to a giant orange in Central California, and my sister was born. Finally we moved to Northern California where we lived in a giant Rose.

I have been back to Holland two times. Once was with my dad and the second time was for three months. If you ever get over there to visit, I highly recommend it. The highlight of my trip with my dad was the boat ride and the three story McDonald’s in Amsterdam. I was 12 years old, leave me alone. The second time, there was a lot of great things. Have you ever seen Cubic Houses? Go to Rotterdam. Ever hear of a painting called The Night Watch? Visit the Wright’s Museum. Want to go to Belgium, France or Germany? They are only a short trip away. Holland is not that big of a country, it only takes a couple of hours, if that. Heard of Anne Frank? I have been to her home twice. You can get a brochure in every single language in the world that tells you about her house and their stay there during the German occupation.

And last I heard, the three story McDonald’s was still there too.

So there you have it. Lynda heeft gesproken (“has spoken” for all of you Dutch-handicapped challenged bloggers)! If you haven’t visited her, please do, as she will only be here for a few more days, before the time lock will snap open on my tenant quarters and she is free to go she is due to go back to her second home… I’m off in a few hours to see one of my best girlfriends who just had her third baby! It’s over a 2 hour drive from here (so if you’ve read Lynda’s guestpost you know that’s almost at the other end of this tiny flat country). Be back tonight! Muah!
