Giving The Brazilian a Dutch
Hi Guys! Welcome to my bed… Yup, I am ín bed, slowly and totally relaxed on the way to starting up my Sunday. You are in bed with me while I am writing this post. Is it as good for you as it is for me?
I was out all day, yesterday, with Carolina to show her some of Dutchyland’s touristic hotspots. Carolina is a researcher from Brazil who recently joined the department to start her PhD thesis research on Thrombosis & Hemostasis. She moved to Dutchyland a few months ago and she will be here for the better part of 4 years.
We had a blast! I think I’ve expanded my circle of friends with a new girlfriend. We haven’t had the chance to get to know eachother that well before, but we did yesterday and we hit it off straight away. It was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. I also think I’ve “birthed” a brandnew blogger… Not completely there yet, but I’ll keep you posted on that one…
Weather was wonderful, which was a blessing in itself for a country that seems to be chronically stuck in Fall-weather over the past year or so, and we went to Zaanse Schans and Volendam. We spent the better part of the day outside in the sun and a light breeze, talking, taking pics, watching the view at Zaanse Schans, climbing to the top of a windmill, buying our boss the corniest gift we could find (a snowcone with a windmill in there, which will be mandatory to be on his desk 24/7), taking a boattour along the Schans, having coffee, visiting some sights over there, eating a pancake, laughing, chatting some more, noticing that we let a great photo-opportunity flash by because of our chatting, having a drink in Volendam and walking thru the old fishermantown’s streets, taking more pictures. We were being full blow professional tourists, you would be so proud of us!
At the end of the afternoon we returned to my appartment to have a drink and decide where to have dinner. We decided on beachbar “Bloomingdale” at the seaside in beachtown Bloemendaal. We got ourselves one of the loungebeds looking out over the beach, where the sun was setting, and the sea. I am not really attached to my hometown or any other town I lived in, but Sheesh! how I LUV the beach and the sea. Not particularly to spend the day getting a tan (I have too much energy in my Dutchy-ass to lie down on it quietly all day, too restless for that), but just the feel of it, the scenery… Aahhhhhhhh… *Le Sigh*
We ordered a rosé wine and some bread with tapenade and aioli… It was hea-ven-ly! We put our asses down on the bed, sipped our rosé’s, had a bite of bread, sighed… and then I felt the uncontrollable urge to state: “Life Sucks, right?” and we laughed! Hard! Oh, and the ENORMOUS seagull that landed on our bed liked the bread with tapenade too. I think he did, as he took a huge chunk out of it and then flew off! Fuckingassholecrapbuggerbird! Shit! I’m sure it was a guy-bird!
At some point I looked over the beach in total bliss and noticed people still swimming in the sea. Dutch Sea is COLD! It’s a miracle there’s no icebergs in there… I think we must have had penguins and polar bears over here at some point but they somehow went extinct… Probably were made into crazy fucked up sextoys for needy Dutchy chicks… Anyway, just as I was contemplating hów crazy those people swimming must be one came walking out of the sea…OMFG… Did I just see? … *squint*… Is he not wearing any?… *focussing*… WTF? Is that bush showing up?
*turning to Carolina*
DB: “OK… that guy is either wearing really nasty swimwear, or he’s naked…”
*Carolina squinting*…
C: “Yup, he’s naked”
DB: “Oh, ok, that’s what I thought”
*sipping some more rosé*
OMFG! I have no problem with nudity but to haul your nasty body out of the sea in the nude in front of hundreds of restaurant guests… That’s just attention whoring…
Well, that was my day yesterday. Pics are up on FlickR in a minute, just click the badge in the sidebar. Once I have Carolina’s pics I will add them on there as well. Now I gotta drag my nekkid ass into the shower and get up already. It’s 11.30 a.m. and I’m expected to be at my neighbour/girlfriend’s place at 2 p.m. for whatever we’ll be doing today on our lazy Sunday. Only 2.5 hours to get ready! Thank God I got myself a new iron yesterday in Volendam. The other one exploded on me on Fridaynight. I guess it was not in the stars on Fridaynight. I wasn’t meant to be ironing at that time and place… Gah!
