Blog Implosion, Indeed
Thru the latest Smorgashboard edition on Dawg’s blog “A Pile of Dog Bones” I came across the post of Panthergirl on her blog “The Dog’s Breakfast” about something I had a post lying around about… I’ve written about it before and was planning to post about it again later this week, cuz I totally agree with Panthergirl:
Blog Explosion has been blown to little shreds by their new owners and it’s time they came clean instead of keep ripping us off making us think they’re still there…
I luv luv luv the original idea, the scope, behind Blog Explosion. Seriously? I actually loved the scope and possibilities of the site more than BlogMad or BlogSoldiers.
I love the Battle of the Blogs feature, it is still working but as people are cutting their losses quickly, the turn around with blogs over there, and while surfing blogs is nothing like it was before. The RentMyBlog feature has been out of it ever since the change of hands… It was a guh-reat feature to pimp out new blogs and get acquainted with other blogs. The RentMyBlog feature being out of service is the reason that I decided to start up the Dutch-A-Pimpin feature on my blog.
It’s all a great idea in itself, IF it would be properly managed. It isn’t properly managed. It hasn’t been ever since it changed owners earlier this year. When I changed my blog URL I had to wait for 3 months, send support tickets and shout out at the member forums for weeks to have it approved… My banners, who also needed to be attached to the new URL, have been waiting for approval since late June! Fucking Late June!
The biggest irritation about all this is that I feel the new owners -slash- managers are really fucking us over. There is no evidence of any work being done over there anymore: there’s no support tickets being replied to, member forums are never replied to by any of the blogowners/managers, blogs are not being approved, banners are not being approved, RentMyBlog is not showing any signs of getting up and running again. I have a shitload of credits left, some of which I PAID for at the time and can’t use.
So this is a message to all those BlogExplosion gems: Wake Up! Your messages, of which the latest was posted months and months ago, about us hanging in there, you hiring more staff to get thru the backlog are getting extremely lame and old… If you can’t do it, at least come crawling from under your rocks, be honest to your members and visitors, and just say so. I’m one of your most loyal fans and would rather see you get the site back up, but if you can’t just come out with it already!
As I know many people that have recently started blogging and are looking for ways to put their blog out there, my message would be the same as PantherGirls‘: if they don’t get that stick out of their asses, don’t use BlogExplosion. Or at the very least: DO NOT purchase any credits!
Stay away from there and check out BlogMad and BlogSoldiers. Much much more reliable. If you are new to those, simply click the badges in the right sidebar (under “Dutchellaneous”) or the links in this post. They’ll take you there and once you’ve registered they’ll give your blog some “airplay”. I promise you it’s great fun and will result in new readers and commenters… oh well, and some lurkers maybe…
And there’s always the possibility to have yourself pimped out by yours truly. It’s for free, and pretty reliable. Ask my former bitches… They’ll tell ya…

The banners have suddenly “magically” been approved…
Man, I used to be on BE all the time, and now I can’t for the life of me remember when I was on there last. You’re right, they have fucked it up pretty bad.

i can’t remember the last time I was at BE either…and I used to do it quite a bit.
BE used to be awesome for getting free traffic and finding new blogs. I never got my panties in a twist about them going to shit because, well, free - ya know?
I didn’t realize people paid for credits. That does suck.
It’s pretty sad how fast it went down hill. I submitted a new blog about 2-3 months ago and I’m still waiting for approval. I’ve heard those doing approvals are just too overwhelmened b/c they don’t have enough help and can’t get ahold of anyone who’s supposed to be in charge!
I never did BE, but I love when you rant. Your face gets flushed a pretty pink and your blue eyes turn reddish and your hair stands on end! It’s a great look for you! LOL
speaking of Blog Explosion, I never get on there anymore…what’s your BE username? I want to transfer some credits to you! email me! :D

Guess what? I went to the BE forum today and apparently they’ve hired someone to “fix” the site. LOL … one person? You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
Did you see my update? After I filed a complaint with Paypal for not getting the 500 credits I bought, they gave me SIX THOUSAND. So if you go to BE now, you’ll see my banners on every freakin’ page.
I’m doing whatever I can to drive traffic right now, because I need people to shop Amazon.com through me ($3200 vet bill to pay!).

I haven’t been to any of the blog services in a while… I should stop by Blogmad though, as I do have some decent credits to use.
I haven’t been by BE in a long time. But, it’s my own fault. I haven’t had time for it lately. *sigh*
