Guillotined

Published by DutchBitch at 7:54 am under Uncategorized

chop.jpgIt’s a shame really… It’s so sad… They were in the prime of their lives… Still could’ve had some great times ahead… they lit up our lives… so colorful… so amazingly beautiful…

They were still young… Had just come into this world… Just lifted up their heads to see the beauty around them… They made so many people happy… We were so happy to see them again…

And still… for whatever reason, their time had come… It’s over now… “Off With Their Heads!” people said and thus it was done… It happened… Don’t ask me why… Don’t ask me what horrific crime they had committed to be guillotined… I don’t know…

But as of this week it’s on… all of their heads will be chopped off…

What am I talking about?

Well, pffftttt!!! The TULIPS of course! What else!?

Bulbseason is over, just as quickly as it started a few months ago. They started de-heading the tulips, as it is called over here. Just after they reach full bloom they chop off the flowers off the tulips, only leaving the stem and leaves. Our fields are back to the green green fiels of hoooooommmeeee… It’s oooooooooveeerrrr!!!

I did worse than that to some tulip bulbs someone gave me last fall. I forgot about them, and found them yesterday in my gagrage-it wasn’t pretty….

Too funny. I knew right from the the first paragraph that you were talking about the tulips. We must be kindred spirits. Our tulips have not even bloomed yet. Too cold here. But soon.

One day I’m going to come visit you and find a tulip field and just roll around in it. LOL I just love me some tulips!

  8. on 29 Apr 2007 at 9:01 am

    Marty: Yes, obviously, tsk!

Attila: Roll around in it? You’ll be shot by the bulbfarmer! :-(

  9. on 29 Apr 2007 at 2:41 pm

Why the hell do they do that for?

  10. on 29 Apr 2007 at 4:36 pm

AndiMAC: The bulbs underneath there are taken out of the ground, peeled and sold. If they leave the flowers on, they will wither and the quality of the bulbs will be less…

So what? They still look prettier with their heads on, like most things, I suppose. :( I LOVE tulips.

Barb: LOL, I think you’re right. Virtually everything looks better with their heads on, probably.

I wish they could bloom forever! They are so beautiful! I have a bouquet of pretty lavender ones on my fireplace mantle right now.
