Mobile R.I.P.
Let’s all take a moment of silence to mourn the (nearly complete) loss of my beloved mobile phone (or cell phone to y’all Americans)… Yeah, it’s almost dead… Almost… haning by a thread…
It keeps failing on me. As The Guy was able to witness, when I was in the US, it kept just going dead. Which is no fun if you are waiting for an important call or whatever. Or when I need to be available at all times for The Kid… I hate it when I check my mobile screen and it has gone all black again… and I have no clue how long it’s been dead this time…
I sent it in for check ups and repairs time and time again, until a month ago the warranty ran out. I tossed and turned and tossed and turned some more and even though I really don’t have the money for it, I decided to fork out for a new phone. I can’t get one with my subscription renewal because that is not for another year and this one is not gonna last long until then, I am pretty sure…
So I did… I scraped my last savings from the bank (my bank is nearly dead too, so maybe just as well) and ordered me a new phone. It’s cost me a couple hundred euros but then again, as at my subscription renewal I will then already own this new phone -and consequently won’t need a new one that always comes with expensive subscriptions- it will enable me to get a SIM only subscription that will probably only cost me half of what my current one is costing me per month. That will at least in a way enable me to “earn back” some of the money I now spent on the new phone, by saving on subscription costs next year.
So there… I just need this *covering current mobile phone’s ears* fucking shitty old one to hold out for another few days until my new one arrives and I get a chance to charge and install that one.
I am SO excited! It’s still not a PDA model (which I would prefer, as that would be able to run Windows on it, but I really can’t afford those suckers) but it’s a pretty spiffy Smart Phone that will enable me to finally do my business email and shit on there and use it for work purposes too. Well, that and extensively keeping in touch with The Guy of course… waaaaay more important…
So, wanna see it? Wanna know what I got? (and you sceptics can bloody well shut up, I like it, I already ordered it and paid for it, I am getting it):
It’s the Nokia E71. One of my bosses has got one and I love the way it works! She’s had it for about 6months now and it’s doing what it should do very well. Yeah, so this baby is making his way to me…
I think I will call him “Rico”
UPDATE: it’s here!!! Suh-queeeeeee!!! I’ll be off now installing it and getting “acquainted”. Latah!

OMG, I love it. I have always had Nokias with the exception of a brief flirt with Samsung. The Samsung was not nearly as durable.
Maybe your mobile company will make a deal with you to change your subscription. Anything to keep a customer, you know.
Want me to talk to them?

Lynda: I wish… Dutch mobile providers are relentless and have no mercy… contract is non-negotiable… But that’s ok. I knew that. At least now I can start getting yearly subscriptions in stead of 2 yearly ones.

Oooooh, pretty!!! (I’m whispering so your other phone doesn’t hear me).
By the way, I thought your ASW said “toost” so I typed it in even though it didn’t make sense. And I was wrong. *smacking forehead*

Niiiiiice. I lurves me some new electronics. I’ve got a new Lite-On DVD burner on the way. Hilltopper needs a cell phone because he gets his driver’s license soon. Debating between adding another phone to our contract at $50/month or getting a pay as you go TracPhone.

I got a Motorola Q forced on me by the company- and it isn’t very user friendly! Battery goes dead before day is done…. keyboard design by and for a Smurf… etc.

YAY! Hope you and the phone are loving each other! (But not THAT way. *giggle*)
