OK so I need your help… As you know Dutch TV is a kazillion light years behind. Just ask CanaDutch, she’ll agree. However, we have some fairly -and I say “fairly” with a vengeance here- new TV series moving in. Some of them have started recently, some are still to start. Some I’ve already seen excerpts off (the *marked), but not enough of it to decide whether I like it yet, and others I have not seen anything of yet.
I can’t possibly keep up with all of them, so here is where you come in. As most of these shows have already been running for at least one season in the US, and maybe elsewhere too, I need you to tell me about the shows and what you think of them. Take no prisoners. I need honest opinions, cuz I can’t be waisting my precious time on suck ass shows… So these are the ones they are throwing at us over here right now…
30 Rock
Army Wives*
Bones
Dead Like Me*
Dirty Sexy Money*
Heroes
Lipstick Jungle
Moonlight
Pushing Daisies
Samantha Who?
The New Adventures of Old Christine
So? Which shows do you like best and why? Which do you think are realllyyyyy worthwhile keeping track of and which ones are not worth a blink of an eye?
Tell me, tell me, tell meeeeee!!! Oh, and thanks… in advance… heh…

30 Rock — never seen it but I’ve heard it is funny as hell…
Army Wives — not my gig
Bones — absolutely love it… one of my favorites but can get very “graphic” and probably not suitable for the squeemish.
Dead Like Me — a very *odd* show that didn’t last very long on one of the US cable networks (Showtime)… I thought it was awesome and just quirky enough to really be funny.
Dirty Sexy Money — Never seen it but heard good things
Heroes — Love it… as long as you can suspend disbelief it has a enormously complex story line and great casting.
Lipstick Jungle — no idea
Moonlight — I loved it but pretty sure it would scare the hell out of you honey… it is about vampires.
Private Practise — awesome show… awesome, awesome, awesome
Pushing Daisies — no idea
Samantha Who? — I’ve heard *a lot* of good things but never seen it… love Christina Applegate though.
The New Adventures of Old Christine — no idea
In summary: Bones and Moonlight I think you’d like but would give you bad dreams (one because it can be very graphic and the other because of the subject material). The best part about Bones though is it casts and extremely strong woman in a lead role and does not have her playing subservient to her male partner which I think is kind of cool. I think you’d really like Private Practice and you might give Heroes a try just because it has a lot of captivating moments. The others? Meh… dunno.

Rob: Heh… I see you remember watching “I am Legend” with me… So what you are saying is that I can start watching Private Practise by myself and I should hold off on Bones and Moonlight until you are next to me on that red couch

OH girrrrrl, now we are speaking the same language!!
Ok lets look at the ones you listed:
30 Rock – Watched some of the first season, thought it was pretty funny but then lost track of it. I hear a lot good about it but I dunno.. didn’t stick with me.
Army Wives – LOVE IT! It can be a little AMERICAN AMERICAN AMERICAN because it’s set on an army base so they are all about America and the troops. If you kind of ignore all that, there’s a good story behind it. It’s kind of like the sex and the city of army bases, only it’s moms and stuff. It’s the same hardcore group of friends thing though.
Bones – Oh this is such a good show. This is one you should get FOR SURE. The main characters are amazing and it’s one of the shows I always look forward to.
Dead Like Me – You probably saw me write about this on my blog. If not, look here: http://www.breigh.com/wordpress/archives/1630. This show should never have been cancelled.
Dirty Sexy Money – Like 30 Rock, watched some and then lost track. Was good, but for some reason didn’t hold my interest.
Heroes – AMAZING in the first season. Second season sucked and now the 3rd season is showing serious promise. There are a lot of actors in it you’d probably recognize and the story is good. I think you should give this one a go.
Lipstick Jungle – WHEEE! One of my new favorites. Definitely a show for chicks!! It’s more Sex and the City than Army Wives, mainly because the women are high powered executive types and they go out for their martinis and it’s all about them and their careers and their sex lives. WATCH IT and then tell me how much you dig Kirby, cuz I do!!
Moonlight Watched a few episodes and lost track. NOT because I didn’t like it, I just got busy with work. This is a good reminder … because I remember really liking it when I watched i.
Private Practise – Have you watched Grey’s Anatomy? If so, and if you like it, you’ll love Private Practice. It’s got a great cast and they are a really interesting mixture. It’s more grown up than Grey’s. They are all Addison’s age rather than young like the gang on Grey’s. Love this show!
Pushing Daisies – I watched 1-2 episodes but didn’t really like it. I’ve been considering giving it a go because a few friends of mine LOVE it, so I figure maybe I just didn’t give it enough of a chance. I found it kind of… dump and kitchy.
Samantha Who? – Haven’t seen this but I’ve been meaning to download it.
The New Adventures of Old Christine – Haven’t seen this either.
Some other shows you haven’t mentioned but I’m not sure if you have seen them or not:
Prison Break – Really good show with some eye candy and cliff hangers. Always keeps you guessing about what’s gonna happen next.
The Big Bang Theory – LOVE THIS SHOW!! omg… see here:
http://www.breigh.com/wordpress/archives/1587
Privileged – New show, definitely a show for chicks. About a journalist who gets a job as a tutor for 2 pain in the ass billionaire teenagers. It’s sort of along the lines of The OC or one of those rich teenagers in the sun type shows.. but it’s different than them, better somehow. I like it a lot.
Reaper – A guy’s parents sell his soul to the devil and the devil comes collecting. He has to work for the devil collecting souls that have escaped from hell. REALLY funny show.
Boson Legal – HILARIOUS show about a bunch of lawyers. Should definitely get this one. It cracks me up big time. They get up to the craziest shit on that show.
Brothers and Sisters – Another one that I think chicks would dig more than guys would. Sally Fields plays a mother of a whole herd of kids (Ally McBeal is one of them), she’s the wife of a guy who owns a big business and he dies. They find out he had a mistress who had a kid. It’s a great show about that family and all the shit that goes on among them. Definitely get this one.
Entourage – About a guy who plays a famous actor and his ‘entourage’, his friends, agent, etc. It’s all about them and their deals and what they get up to. It’s really really really good.
How I Met Your Mother – Sort of FRIENDS-ish. A group of friends who hang out. The story is being told in the future by a guy to his children, where he is telling them the story of how he met their mother. You never know who the mother is though, as he’s going through all his dating life and stuff. The chick ‘one time, at band camp’ is in it, you know the red head from Buffy. Also Neil Patrick Harris who payed Doogie Howser way back in the day. This is a good, funny show. Get this one :)
In Plain Sight – A new show this year about a girl who works as a state marshall dealing with people who are in the witness protection program. LOVE IT!!!
Saving Grace – Holly Hunter is a badass cop who sleeps with her partner (and loads of other people), drinks too much and gets in a lot of trouble. She meets an angel named Earl, who’s not really a typical angel, he looks a bit like a bum. GREAT SHOW! Get this one for sure too!
Men in Trees – A chick who writes books about love and relationships finds out her fiance is cheating on her. She totally loses it and while in a small town in Alaska (where she goes on a book tour thing) she decides to stay there to figure out her life. It’s about her and the people in the small town. Also, some major sexual tension between her and one of the men in the town (HOTTTT). It’s another chick type show I absolutely love!!
SWINGTOWN!!! – This is a recent favorite of mine. It was new this season too. It’s got Jake from Melrose Place (remember him?) and Steve from COUPLING, along with various other people. It’s set in the 70′s when people were heavy into swinging. A couple moves into a new neighbourhood and ends up across the street from a couple of swingers. It’s about them and their experimentation but also a whole lot of other stuff. Love this show, love the characters, love everything about it. Can’t wait for next season! GET IT!!
Weeds – Another favorite. About a mom from the suburbs who’s husband dies suddenly of a heart attack. She has 2 kids and suddenly has no way to support them so she starts selling weed. It’s SOOOOOO good. Love it love it love it! I want to be Nancy Botwin (the main character) hehe :) Get it!
Ok, I’m tapped, but this should keep you busy for a while hahaha
and yes I know, I watch far too many TV shows, but with downloading and laptops that can go anywhere with you, they make it too easy!!

Bones, Moonlight, 30 Rock, Pushing Daisies, and Heroes. Moonlight was cancelled over here I think…… but the others have been wildly successful. (If you don’t like graphic dead bodies, Bones may be a little much though.)

The only two shows I’ve ever watched on this list are Army Wives and Dirty Sexy Money.
I like Army Wives because (heh) I used to be one. It’s more of a soap-opera-y show, but I find that they are pretty good in representing “real” military spouses, if not always “real” situations.
Dirty Sexy Money is all guilty pleasure. I watched it when it first came on, but I don’t watch it anymore, just because I don’t have time and there are too many other things recording on the DVR already! Peter Krauss (the family lawyer) was also on Six Feet Under, which is awesome.
I’m sure 30 Rock is great, because Tina Fey is magic, but I’ve never seen it :(

For sure 30Rock as I love all the actors on it and they work well together. Bones sounds like something I would enjoy as I’m all up in that CSI shit. New Adventures of Old Christine because Julia Louise Dreyfuss is funny as hell. And I also have heard many good things about Samantha Who? but confess I don’t get to watch much tv either. Good luck choosing.

2 words: PRIVATE PRACTISE!!!!!
I think it is a really really cool show! lot of humour, but also the real life deals. I know what you might think, so many shows, so little time. But this is one is easy to get in to and you’ll definitly like the characters!!
have fun deciding oh and btw Private Practise is on tonight *hint* ;)

Army Wives – Great cast, pretty funny and not the usual cheesy crap that shows up on our Lifetime Network here.
Dirty Sexy Money – is FABULOUS. I adore the show. The main character is hot, the story lines are ridiculously tabloid-ish and as someone else says it’s a totally guilty pleasure.
Heroes – Is also a GREAT show. Season 2 struggled a bit but we’re onto season 3 here and it’s pretty intense so far.

I’ve only seen “30 Rock” and “Private Practice.” “30 Rock” is hysterical; I think you’d like it. I like “Private Practice” but I don’t find myself making time to watch it (I only watch a bit of TV and only by “appointment”).
May I recommend “House” if you like medical drama? I bet you’d love him!

Pushing Daisies is very worth the time. Dirty Sexy Money is brilliant. Lot’s of ways to check it out on line that will give you a sense of the flavor of the show. Here’s a great video promo for season two with Lady GaGa leading the charge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pk2HT0jLFA

I watch so little TV I don’t know that I can be much help (no change there then!)
Pushing Daisies was really good, very different to the usual dross.
Dirty Sexy Money bored me after a couple of episodes, it just didn’t hold my attention.
30 Rock I always hear wonderful things about but then forget to watch it!
My kids are addicted to Heroes and I would probably watch it but I always seem to be doing something else.
I have no clue about the others – sorry!

From your list I’d say Heros…But you forgot Mad Men which I think is the best show on TV right now.
You can download it from iTunes and watch it on your computer or get really fancy and plug a computer into a TV or get even fancier and get an AppleTV. I really like downloading the current season and watching it whenever I want. Sure tivo is great but the iTunes store is even cooler.

My mom enjoys Army Wives and I’ve caught a bit of it. Good. Lots of estrogen and agony. Typical female fare.
Dead Like Me is funny and angst-y. I enjoyed it. Have fun decided which one you like!

MUST SEES: Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me.
GREAT SHOWS (SECOND PLACE): 30 Rock, The New Adventures of Old Christine
Everyone else did such a good job describing the shows above! Just so you know, I only gave you m,y picks for a limited amount of teevee viewing. I personally watch Dirty Sexy Money, Heroes, Lipstick Jungle and Private Practice (plus the ones I listed up there).
The only thing I have to say about Moonlight is that it got canceled after one season so that is all you will get. I liked the show though.
