It was a spurr of the moment thing. I was out for the afternoon with a Brazilian girlfriend in Amsterdam. The line at the Van Gogh museum that we planned to visit was so long that there was no way we would get in before closing time 1.5 hour later… so we went off for drinks… and decided on seeing a movie instead.
As my friend had already seen “Slum Dog Millionaire” we decided on seeing “Milk”. We could not even sit together as the theater was booked fairly solid already by the time we bought our tickets but we still wanted to go see it.
It was in one word: a.w.e.s.o.m.e.
One of the better movies that I’ve seen in a long time. I even had to admit to wiping away a few tears at the end of the movie, at the candlelit march scene… The Oscar for Best Actor could not have gone to a better person!
Wow…

I am kicking myself for not having seen this yet. I hope to catch it in one of the second run theaters around here.

I really want to see this, but Mister’s not that interested so I have to find time to go myself. Good luck with that, right?

The actual real life events took place about an hour from where I live, in San Francisco. When MILK came out, they did a lot of tributes on the news, as the movie came out about the 20th anniversary of when Harvey Milk was killed. My parents both said, “Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years already.”
I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s a movie I am interested in seeing.

I’m going to try to catch this one next week while I’m traveling on business. I like Sean Penn and I’m glad to see him get the recognition he deserves. On a sidenote, Mickey Rourke was fantastic in “The Wrestler” but I was terrified of what his acceptance speech would be like if he won. The man is just weird.

Iron Fist: I hope you manage to see it. It’s awesome
Finn: Want me to come over and see it with you?
Lynda: I can imagine it was a big deal and all those tributes being done.
Robin: a) same here on too many movies still too see and b) it must’ve been!
JustDave: LOL an acceptance speech by Mickey Rourke might have been “interesting” to say the least. I think he’s utterly creepy!
