I forgot about Singleton Rule #1

So last Mondaynight was definetely one of the heaviest thunderstorms I have ever experienced in my life in Dutchyland… Yes, I know, compared to all your hurricanes, tornados and whatnaught we are lightweights… but totally beside the point..

I was sitting on my red sofa, watching some TV, having Lady Penelope distract me on IM giving me details on the state of hangover recovery she was in, and outside it was raining, thundering and lightening… and suddenly

* BANG *

It was the loudest one I have ever heard. There was not only a loud bang outside but also one inside and *poof* power was gone…  I swiftly checked the rest of the appartment and the outside and it was all pitchblack… I went to the cupboard to get my big ass flashlight (hmmmm, do you like my big…. flashlight?) and opened the front door to get to my electricity meter to see if the main switch had been turned off. It had. I turned it back on again and nothing… Then I heard my two 70+ downstairs neighbors in somewhat of a frenzy downstairs, not knowing what to do. Dressed in nothing but some sweats and a skimpy top, armed with my flashlight I went downstairs to the rescue. I switched both their main switches on and *poof* their power came back on (and their everlasting grattitude is upon me, of course).

I walked back up the stairs just at the moment that my cute, but waaaay too young, next door neighbor came out his door to look at his main electricity switch… and all I could immediately think was

Bugger, bugger, bugger! The ONE time I walk out of the house without any make up on!!! Shite!

Yeah, cos tho he is waaay too young for me, you never know right? And he might have right-aged friends right? And they for once might not be fucktards… And isn’t the #1 Singleton Rule: NEVER go out in public without any make up on! Sigh… well, it is MY rule anyway… Not even power outage, not even thunderstorms, nothing justifies walking out of the house like that, dummy DutchBitch! And this was your wake up call -slash- punishment…

I talked to W (the neighbour) for a bit, we tried turning off all the electricity switches and turning them back on again, and while the whole neighborhood was getting power back, with us… nothing… After a while we decided to just go to sleep seeing as it was almost midnight anyway and just wait and see if power came back on by the morning.

It did… 1.5 hour later at about 1.15 a.m. When I suddenly was woken, in between thunderbolts that were making the house shake, by all the lights in the house switching on and the TV blaring. I sent W a text message

DutchBitch txt: “My power just came back on, no cable yet tho”
W txt: “I was just going to text the same to you. Going to sleep now. Goodnight :)”
DB txt: “
Thanks and goodnight to you too. And you can please wipe that picture of your neighbor without make up from your memory, thanks”
W txt: “Oh please, you can totally pull off the no-make-up look. Sleep well”

Pff, I saw what I looked like, so I am sure he doesn’t mean any of it, he just knows not to piss of his next door neighbor and made a wise decision, heh…

All of Dutchyland was fucked up due to the thunderstorm. At DutchBitch Casa the brandnew Wii, dvd player and amplifier got fried. Fifth worst morning traffic jam of all time, motorways closed due to flooding, trees fallen over, fires all over due to lighting hitting, power still out in some places, trainschedules fucked up, cable still out (thank GOD, I switched my internet from cable to ADSL a while ago, whew, can you imagine?!)… Yeah, us Dutchies are lightweights, I know… Deal with it!

And if any of you were wondering.. yes… to compensate in the morning I went out in a black and white polka dotted dress, black high heels and a black cardigan (’twas a bit chilly out, give me a break! sheesh!). Silky smooth shaven legs. Fully make upped and hair dressed… I looked hawt!

Lynda: I guess we are. And anyone can break that rule, it’s just a personal one, *I* should just not break it. A little mascara at the very least, lol

:duh:

I’m not supposed to go out in public w/out makeup?? Oh shit, I must be scaring everyone I work with everyday! (Being a house cleaner doesn’t require make up)

No wonder they all run away!! LOL!

It must be something to do with the fact that I have been married for 42 years but it wasn’t going out with no makeup that hit me. It was the fried Wii, DVD player and the amplifier that really upset me. Hope you can get them replaced.

Roberta: Well, turns out I am insured so I should at least get some money and I have a really technical BIL so maybe he can fix the stuff :)

Turnbaby: 8-10 years… I know some women do that, but I just can’t'… too young for my taste… at this age it’s the difference between having done a lot of things and done with it and still being at the start of all of it.

I’m married and I never leave the house w/o make up (ever). Not even to get the mail at the end of our driveway on a dead end street. LOL. I’m a little OCD, though.

How young IS way too young? For a relationship? A fling?

And, for the record, Mister says he prefers me without makeup. Of course he may just be trying to score points, but he said it without prompting from me, so there you go. I bet you looked beautiful and about 12.

The usual thing down here in thunderstorm central (a.k.a. Georgia) is to get surge protectors for all electronic equipment. That or unplug everything at the sign of the first rumble. So much fun.

Glad you’re OK, and hey I’ll bet the young neighbor was telling the truth. I’ll bet you’re hawt without makeup!

Wow!
I am one of those freaks who loves huge storms like that. However, we had Hurricane Ike’s winds come through months ago, and our power was out for DAYS.
It was hell. HELL!
You shoulda gotten a picture looking so hawt!

Evil Twin’s Wife: Well, I guess I am too then. The LEAST I have to have on is mascara… LEAST!

Finn: Too young for everything.. trust me, if you would see him you would agree. And awww @Mister

CMGD: Well the first “rumble” was the hit that destroyed it all

Poppy: Aren’t they? They were made by locals

Sybil: I love storms like that too, but not if they fuck up my stuff, LOL

I totally love you! And I can’t wait to see you–make up or not. Which brings to mind a question…What are you bringing for pajamas for sleeping at Bliss Manor? I’m a tad nervous about that seeing as all my jammies are just weird combinations of clothing from mine and Jason’s dressers.
