I LOVE the children’s books by Cornelia Funke. The Kid was once given The Thief Lord for his birthday, which we read in just a few days. Then The Sis came up with The Dragonrider which we are reading right now.
The bookstore at the medical center has Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath, a series of 3, in their collection and when I had to go into the office this week (hurray for working from home and then having to do stuff you have to go into the office for), I dragged his ass into the bookstore to show him the books. Now, we all know that Dutchyland is a Third World country where TV and movies are concerned, so imagine my suprise when I saw announcements that finally the movie that was based on the book Inkheart was coming to Dutch cinema’s… The Kid was pretty “Meh” about the books and the movie, as he usually is before he reads/sees it and gets addicted to it… Men…
On Wednesday rain was pooooring from the skies, The Kid was bored, home WiFi was giving me grief so I couldn’t work for a few hours, so we needed a plan for the afternoon. I checked the cinema listings and sure enough “Inkheart” was still there. So we dragged our asses to Haarlem, still my fav Dutch city, and to the cinema to see Inkheart.
Though for several reasons my mind was all over the place, I managed to concentrate on the movie more than I had anticipated. I deeply hate Brendan Fraser, with a passion, but I got over myself for this movie. Especially as in return it had Helen Mirren, Jim Broadbent, and Paul Bethany in it. I love all three of those actors!
Kid’s movies are about the only thing that I find myself going to cinema’s for these days. I have not seen a non-child rated movie in the cinema for a looooong looooooooooong time… Some of the kiddy movies are a pain in the ass to get through. And though the Disney and Dreamwork people have really done their utmost to make their latest releases a funny watch for adults as well, it’s getting old…
I really liked Inkheart though. I could sit thru the sequels of those if I had to… If they are ever made with the movie industry being in a turmoil these days… Oh well, I had fun watching this one. It was niiiiccceee…
I just had too much popcorn in mah belleh when I struggled out of the cinema…
Oh, and does anyone have a clue on who is the guy that narrates all these movie trailers? I mean, that voice! He single? Should be quite pleasant to have that man whisper sweet nuttin’s in my ear, hmmm…

Oh goodness! How can you hate Brendan?
He is soooooo beautiful!

Ginger Magnolia: I am sure it will be as it has been out in theathers for 4 months now, Dutchyland is just late to the party as usual.

If you knew how to use bittorent you could get it today before it even comes out on DVD. I think it’s funny that he parodied himself on a GEICO commercial.
