Pretty much done

Well, today is the day that I am pretty much done…

• Done with tweaking the new theme, with a huge big thank you to Dameer, from ThemeForest, one of the theme-helpdesk people who assisted me in finalizing the last few tweaks that I needed. Thanks Dameer! It’s a nice clean and simple theme, just the way I like it. And I love to have the Plugger-feature. It means much more freedom to design my own widgets.

Also…

• Done with summer break… It’s over. This is the last weekend and on Monday it’s back to the grind for this girl. The Kid has another week off school and after that, on Monday August 23, he’s starting high school… As he does have another week off I will be working from home on Wed & Thu, so I get to slowly slide back into the office shit… Obviously I am positively ddddyyinnnggg to go back to work *sarcasm*

And…

• Done with the whole dating site shit. I have had dates with 2 guys who both turned out to be liars (one posted a picture that wasn’t his, other one lied about where he lived and what he does for a living) and though it’s not so much about what they turned out to be, it IS about starting out lying. Other than that I only got sex-related and dirty messages from men who clearly only want one thing and most of them weren’t even single. I think I have clearly proven to my nagging girlfriend who sprung for the membership that this way of trying to date is not for me…

So, here we are, on Saturday August 14. I am going to relax and enjoy the last few days of summer break (or “summer”  break as we like to call it over here, as we had almost no great weather all 3 wks). Fortunately we still have the Orlando-Florida visit to mah girl Jill to look forward to in 2 months and 2 days!

So Zoo

We’re out today. The Kid, The Lill Niece and myself will be venturing out to the zoo today. The Blijdorp zoo in Rotterdam to be precise.

Goodmorning / goodafternoon / goodevening

The DutchBitch is not in today. She will be smooching and cuddling and hugging  and smothering The Kid who is back after a 3 week absence while on holiday with The Ex.

We will be spending the rest of the day eating the apple pie that I baked him… and the bowl of red currants I got him… and watching the Flash Forward episodes I taped in the past weeks…

I know, I am a complete dork Mom

I know you all have been going pretty nuts with my remarks on Facebook, Twitter and around here. And Gawd knows that The Sis and The BIL and The Mom have gone insane over me being on their doorstep all the time in the past days cos I didn’t know what the hell to do with myself. Using the Lill Niece and the Littler Niece as replacement kiddy love, but ya know… I am dying here not having The Kid home in the past weeks.

I am not sure why but this time ’round it has been much harder on me than the years before. Probably because he’s getting older and the time that he’s going to be doing his own thing more and more is approaching. Probably because this is a big year of big changes, end of base school, start of high school, end of post-school daycare, stuff like that… And also probably because this time ’round he was a long way away during his summer holiday with his dad: Indonesia…

While I am typing this up on Thursday evening he should be airborn on his flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam. By the time this post airs, he should be back on Dutch soil again. He will be with his dad for another day and then on Saturday morning he will be back where I most like him to be: with his Momma!

I will try to occupy myself today to get through it. I will be out to lunch with a girlfriend / former colleague. We have not properly caught up for over a year, so that will be good. And then I dunno… probably bother The Sis, The BIL, The Mom, The Lill Niece, The Littler Niece and such a bit more… and then sleep… and then SATURDAY!

Yeah, so I know. I am a complete dork kinda Mom. Deal with it. It’s the way it is.
