My car is showing signs of needing major “surgery” within the next few weeks…

My TV, granted it’s old, but still, is being all wonkey lately and about to crap out on me, I think…

And The Chief just dropped a huge bomb on me this p.m. that makes me worry about my future at the office…

And that is just some of the major big stuff going on… I am not even moaning about all the little crap…

So forgive me if I can’t be all happy smiley for you right now…

This week better get better fast!

All of them, but one 9 year old boy. A Dutch boy. A boy who lost his Mom, his Dad and his big brother in the plane crash. A boy who was now in a Libian hospital having multiple surgery on his badly broken legs, who could not clearly remember what had happened, who was surrounded by hospital staff that speaks a language he can’t understand.

Right after finally one of the Dutch Embassy staff was allowed to go see him and find out the identity of this Dutch boy, and it was confirmed that it was indeed a Dutch child, one of the tackiest Dutch papers around did something astounding…

Now don’t get me wrong. I am not against journalists or journalism in general. Gawd knows that investigative journalism has opened up many cans of worms that people, organizations, governments rather would’ve kept shut. It’s done much good. It’s brought so much to the surface that the world needed to know.

But what good can come out of picking up the phone, posing as someone close to the boy, calling one of the Dr’s of this young boy, have them hand the phone to him and ask him how he is doing, whether he was already informed (and of course at that time he had not) that he was in a plane crash and that he was the sole survivor. Whether he realized that meant that his parents and brother are no longer alive?

And then splattering the story on your front page and wondering what all the backlash and fuss is all about? I mean WTF? Seriously!?!? THAT is good investigative journalism? And you are now wondering why half of Dutchyland is bashing you for having no scruples, for just being cruel, and cancelling their subscription? You are now bashing Dutch celebrities for calling upon the Dutch public to cancel their subscriptions and protesting your actions?

I already thought that particular paper is the crapiest one in all of Dutchyland but right now I just never want to set eyes upon, let alone touch, a copy of that shit paper. What your journalist did to that boy is every level of cruel and then some. This boy has survived something that to most of us is one of the scariest things we can imagine. He has to deal with losing his closest family in that disaster. He is the sole surviver out of 104 people in that plane. He is hurting physically and mentally.

For Gawd’s Sake: Leave The Boy Alone!

Leave him alone to deal with that in peace. Let him be with his aunt and uncle who are taking him back to Dutchyland today and let him heal without the pressure of the media and your fucking cruel actions. And pray, pray, pray, p.r.a.y. that there is no such thing as karma that can come back and bite you in the cruel shit for brains ass…

And Ruben? I wish you all the best. I can’t imagine what it is like to have to endure this. I hope you manage to somehow find peace and be able to be surrounded by people you love and that love you for the rest of your life.

Then again:

• I managed to get almost all of the bosses home. Last one is flying into Amsterdam tomorrow
• I got thru the annual visit of the board of directors to the department minus The Chief (as he is the one flying into Amsterdam tomorrow) and with a very nervous other boss replacing him
• I think I landed myself a new friend at the workshops I attended on Tuesday. She and I hit it off straight away. Networking is such fun!
• Tonight it’s The Kid’s last basketball match of the season. Tho I love it, it will be less of a strain on my busy schedule now that he is done till September  * whew *

and most importantly:

• Thank God it’s Friday!

• Having 3 bosses stuck in several parts of the world, currently Rome, Istanbul and Dubai, due to that crap volcanic ash cloud
• Being responsible for the annual visit upcoming Thursday of the Board of Directors to our department due to absence of The Boss (see #1)
• Having to prepare for 2 workshops that I háve to attend tomorrow in Utrecht

Oh and… just for extra kicks…

• Having to follow strict radiation procedures in closing down 2 offices and relocating the employees, because of a leak in the ceiling of one of our offices, situated below Nuclear Medicine department, which had led to radiation in the offices.

I am torn between ending this short post with either “Never a dull moment” (for extra reference on that one please go HERE) or “Please kill me now“… You can choose for yourself, I guess…

Les Sables d’Olonne in the Vendée has launched the online recruitment campaign for the six-week job, which will run from July 10 to August 22. The pay works out at €23 an hour before deductions, for a basic 35-hour working week. The initiative is being sponsored by a brand of sun-care products.

The two “creamers” will be based in a beach hut at the popular resort and tasked with applying 30,000 sun-cream samples as well as dishing out advice on how to stay safe in the sun.

Applications have opened a few days ago at one of Les Sables d’Olonne’s jobsites and the closing date is May 23. You will need to provide a CV and record a 45-second video clip explaining why you deserve the job.

So what kind of CV and video clip would land you thát job. And really? The Best Summer Job Ever? Rubbing suntan lotion over creepy hairy backs? Umm, no thanks… I think I’ll pass… Urghhhh…

… and you then inform his mother that it would suit “you” better if your son would stay at her place an extra day…

… I wonder if you have considered what your son would want at.all … To me that’s major suckage…

And “yes”, I DO realize I was the one who asked (I had to, as you had refrained from making any arrangements with me for the weekend)…

I was still baffled by the reply I got, seriously baffled…

Then again, I get to have an extra looong Easter weekend of leisure with my wondahful son…

Here’s the Dirt on the weekend:

• Dave2 makes his flight arrive 25 minutes early so you have to hurry the fuck up to get to the airport
• He hogs all the electricity sockets with his appliances
• He also hogs the shower for hours on end… and uses all the hot water
• US embassy architects are apparently geniuses
• Dave2 will get mud on his jeans in order to photograph crocusses and then puts it in your laundry hamper with instructions on how to wash it
• Gum smacking whores are everywhere, preferably in the train seat in front of you
• Dave2 is prettttyyy sure his Pooferflargen is bigger than any Dutch guy’s
• Hi Speed is not the same as High Speed
• As soon as you cross the border of Belgium you encounter stoopid people
• Being an American it is ok to state that… repeatedly…
• If you are in the metro, it’s come to a halt, and you can see the driver pass and walk to the other side, outside of the train, it is because the train is not going any further but back to where it came from
• A European coke can never be big enough for an American
• Apparently everything is bigger in the US and that’s good, except when Dave2 wants something to be smaller

• He bitched about Ms Kitty sitting on his suitcase (she is a watch-cat, she’s only guarding your luggage, dude)
• Also he refuses to get a credit card with a chip (says he can’t while I know that really he just won’t)
• Instantly forgets about his travel companion when seeing a blonde woman eating patatjes-met slapping the hand of her boyfriend when he tries to steal a patatje (because that is his ideal woman, pfff)
• Apparently the fastest way to get a cigaret stuffed in your poofenwafel is to wave it in Dave2′s face
• The new popular phrase is: “Keep your Pooferflargen away from my Poofenwafel!“

So, ya know, if you think spending the weekend with Dave2 is all fun and games, a walk in the park, think again!

The flusher of the toilet gets stuck all the fucking time. Of course when I stay at the toilet to wait if it gets stuck it hardly ever does. It’s the times that I walk off thinking it won’t do it, that it does. Preferably at 3.30 a.m. so that I notice when I have júst snuggled back into my warm comfy bed… You know, those times that you tried to ignore you had to pee and didn’t want to get out of bed to go in the first place…

And now the Water-hates-DutchBitch battle has spread out to the workplace. We have this small room that holds 2 Xerox multifunctional machines: big fat scanner/copier/printer machines. Incredibly expensive. This past Monday we had the -I think- 9th leakage in the ceiling in that room, since we moved into these offices about 1.5 year ago. The ceiling starts leaking water right above one of the machines. Preferably, as it did on Monday about half an hour before quitting time. So that I have to go in there, unplug the machine, shove it aside, unplug the paycard system it’s attached to, shove that aside, and call Tech Services to come down to fix the damn pipes again… Which I did… and the Tech Guy told me “Oh yeah, I see what’s going on, there is a pipe part here that wasn’t fully tightened. I tightened it“. To which I replied “Yeah, great… but this keeps happening and that is a € 30,000 machine under there, so maaaayybbeee it’s time to do something about the damn pipes if that part keeps coming undone“. But ya knowwww butdget cuts and shit… so they’d rather nót fix the problem and someday lose a Xerox machine (and other stuff when that one short circuits and causes a fire)…

I bet they don’t know about MY luck with water and drains and pipes and stuff…
